I feel so awful for not updating this blog!
Finding trusty internet in Australia was soo hard. Internet was easily bought and found but the connection speed was soooo slow so I opted to write in my mini journal instead. It was great for writing and laying in the park in the middle of Sydney. Here’s a breakdown of my trip. Pictures to come (though I wasn’t inspired to take at digital photography at alllll) and more of what I’m currently doing.
Melbourne.
I loved this city 2 years ago, and I was able to discover some NEW places, which was amazing.
- St Kilda Pier (where I saw a live baby penguin poop in front of me)
- South Melbourne Market
- Urban Central- our hostel in Southbank, soo hip and clean
- Carlton Brewery Tour!! Yumm.
- Torquay- a quaint lil beach town..it POURED and thundered the first day we got there..we walked to our campervan soaking wet. All 3 of us slept in the kitchen, on one mattress because it was the only place with a heater, but it was a timed heater so every 30 min one of us would have to wake up to turn it on again!! Cuz it was FREEEEZZZINNNG
- Anglesea- we walked 6 mi. to find kangaroos on a golf course. We DID! Not the best day of my life though, as I was suffering from some intense abdominal pains
- LEARNED HOW TO FRIGGIN’ SURF.
- Walked around Collingwood/Fitzroy. Saw some cool art galleries and cute boutiques.
- Parklife/ and it’s afterparty
Sydney.
Two years ago this was my least favorite city in the world. After spending 2 weeks there, my mind has been converted into a pro-Sydneysider. zomg it was amazing. I felt like I got to know all the neighborhoods, even the burbs, really well and got a feel for the people living here.
- Slept on the ledge at the Continental hotel. Had the most amazing view ever on the roof
- Ate at the swanky Billy Kwong..TWICE
- Mountain Goat Beer
- Surry Hills
- Darlinghurst
- JuJu’s in King’s Cross
- Sitting in Hyde Park & Rushcutter’s Bay Park for hours. Tanning & writing in my journal
- Bondi Beach
- Newtown- stayed there for a few days w/ my friend Kyle
- Visited Kyle’s hometown- Newcastle
- Opera House
- Royal Botanic Garden
- Know Crown St. better than I do my ‘hood in ATX
- Reunion w/ The Presets band & crew+ met up The Rapture
- Bought a badass silkscreen, signed & numbered by STATIC
2 days after I got home from Oz I was on a plane to NYC for tour. Actually it was more like 1 day…Mike Doughty. It’s a van tour, sometimes there are 2 shows in a night, they’re all very low key so it’s good.
