Now that tour is over, I thought I’d document some of my food finds around the country. I’ve been on tour for 6 weeks..it’s been a long time, I am tired!
This tour, my Tour manager and I wanted to eat at as many Diner, Drive-ins and Dives as we could or some Man vs. food joints. here are some notables:
Tampa
- Memas Alaskan Fish tacos (not a DDD or a MvF but one of my fave place in the country)
Austin
- Juan in a Million (MvF)
Albuquerque
- Antiquity (not a DDD or MvF, but AMMAHZZING)-..i am not sad to drop $50 bucks here
- Standard Diner (DDD) ahhmmazzing, yet a pricey diner
- Sophia’s Place (DDD)- just standard Southwestern New Mexican food but great atmosphere and greattt food. I had the blackened shrimp quesadillas
Phoenix, AZ
- Chino Bandino (DDD)- Chinese Mexican food fusion..whaa?
Tuscon, AZ
- Mi Nidito (MvF)- southwestern mex food that Presidents have made famous
Portland, Oregon
- Montage-best mac and cheese (like 8 varieties here) but even better—the GOOEY BUTTER CAKE)
- Pok Pok (DDD).. amazing Thai food and their water is flavored with pandan leaf. Proof that a white dude can make really delish northern Thai food..owner Andy Ricker is one of this year’s James Beard Award nominee hollaa
- Voodoo Donut ( MvF)- Not as good as Gordoughs buttt it did the job)
- Stepping Stone Cafe (MvF)- my TM could only eat one of their man pancakes, which is a 13-in pancake.. I had cinnamon roll french toast
- Doug Fir
Seattle, WA
- Five Points Diner..my TM and I go here every time we are in Seattle. tradish.
Denver, CO
- Peter’s Kitchen- Just cheap, standard but delish diner food
