Australia is amazing. I got to hold a koala last time I was in Australia. I remembered not to say Koala bear also! ha. Just koala. Anyways, Koalas are softer than I thought they’d be and their fur is pretty thick. They have REALLY scary long claws but after they eat the eucalyptus leaves all they wanna do is hug you (but their grip is kinda strong!!!!). I wanted to take a photo w/ one but it is 15 AUSD!!! That’s prob like 10 bucks USA but I was poor on that trip! Anyways, a friend of a friend took this photo. It is a photo of a koala. My friend’s friend found her on his front porch trying to escape the crazy bush fire that is ravaging Victoria.

It truly devastates me. I have friends in Australia and I don’t have TV but I’ve been watching news reports about it on CNN. I hate saying this but it is difficult to sympathize by reading reports. It is one thing to read something and another thing to see it happen. Even watching clips of interviews from people affected by the fires made me so emotional last night. I’ve been reading about it all week but I didn’t feel affected by it until I saw people’s faces, saw the fire inch closer on home videos, saw whole towns blackened by the fire. Very disturbing and sad images. I’m praying really hard these days.
